Michael Maricle

West Coast recording artist Michael Maricle, called ‘a prodigy’ by Sub Pop founder Bruce Pavitt, began creating music at the age of four when he first sat down to play the piano. He was born in Los Angeles in 1969 and grew up on the Central Coast of California, where he studied classical piano and cello. He went on to study Music Composition at UC Santa Barbara College of Creative Studies. At school he spent most of his time learning about synthesizers, samplers and computer music, at a time when music technology was really starting to take off. During this time Michael joined a Santa Barbara jam band called Tao Jonz that played all original dance music, reggae, ska, funk and jazz. After graduating college in 1991, Michael spent the next four years playing keys with Tao Jonz at night, and lounging on the beach by day.

In 1995 Michael moved to SF and formed an electronic jam band called Padma, playing improvised electronic music at obscure parties in the SF underground electronic music scene between 1995-2000. During this time Michael completed his first solo album, Dreamelodia, a melodic ambient journey especially suited for yoga, meditation and relaxation.

In 2001 Michael moved to Seattle and began focussing on a solo career as a recording artist. He spent about four years fine tuning his sound, as well as perfecting the art of music production. During this time he contributed original music to Seattle based Oracle Gatherings and he released three more solo albums - "Atlantis Subterrain", "Shift" and "Another Glowing Day".

In 2005 Michael studied with world-renowned sound healer Tom Kenyon. In the same year Michael released “Breakthrough”, a Hemi-Sync release with the Monroe Institute, a CD designed to enhance creativity, learning and focus.

In early 2009 Michael released “Reflections” and “French Press”.  

Look for a new album of electro acoustic songs with vocals in 2010.
